Spring is in the air...
Finally we have spring :) The lambs come to the world one by one, all big and cute, the grasses are getting greener and the horses are always happier and better.
Best to begin by telling you about a show called Æskan og Hesturinn (The youth and the horse). The little guy of the home, Sindri Snær aged 9 yo borrowed Tón, the horse of his mother and rode in a act with his friends from the country, group of 15 young riders and their horses and they were indians and cowboys.
We also have two foals already. Sónata was first to come with a foal, and it was a brown male cute little guy.
Next was Kveikja and she came with a dream foal, beautiful mare sired by Blæ from Torfunes.
Extremely beautiful and talented little mare. Just about a day old in these photos.
We are adding to the sale horses three beautiful mares;
Gorgeus 2 yo mare sired by Kveikju frá Árgerði and the honorary price stallion Gári from Auðsholtshjáleigu with a BLUP 120
Aría frá Árgerði
Another beautiful mare, mother is Svölu frá Árgerði and father is Kiljan frá Árgerði, Elísa frá Árgerði:
And finally Kolbrá from Litla-Garði, sired by Andvari from Akureyri and mothered by Sunnu frá Árgerði born 2009

Fákar og Fjör
Here are the horses we showed:
Biggi and Evelyn from Litla-Garði in 4gaited mares
Ásdís and Perla from Syðra-Brekkukoti also in 4gaited mares
Biggi and Gletting from Árgerði in 5gaited mares
Biggi and Blakkur from Árgerði were in a pace show
Biggi rode Hvin frá Litla-Garði in 5gaited geldings
Ásdís then rode in a breedingshows from Ytri-Bægisá on the Andvara from Ey´ son, Mekki
Ásdís showed Kiljan from Árgerði in a stallionshow where four stallions came in together, the first come back after his injuries, great horse there
And last but not least, Biggi and Gangster from Árgerði also in the stallion show like Kiljan and impressed peoble like he always does. Great 4gaiter with lots of 9´s for riding abilities.

Great young mares
We entered in a foalshow this weekend where the foals were judged for conformation and movements.
We came with two nice little mares and they are:
Sprengja frá Árgerði fathered by Kiljan frá Árgerði and mothered by Svölu frá Árgerði
Fjöður frá Litla-Garði sired by Gígjari frá Auðsholtshjáleigu og Væntingu frá Ási
They came in the first (Sprengja) and second place (Fjöður). Herdís and Biggi are the owners of Sprengja but Anna Bak is the proud owner of the nice little Fjöður and we congratulate her for this.
Also Tristan from Árgerði was the father of the mare who came in the fourth plase and Jarl from Árgerði was the father of the stallion foal that came in the fourth place.

Crazy weather in Iceland!
Glymra frá Litla-Garði 1 year old summer 2009
Now is very bad weather here, all roads blocked by snow and very much wind and snow coming down. In other words, inside day, then we are lucky to have the ridinghall :) We always get reminded that we live in Iceland a couple of times each winter. Then it´s good to think to the warm times and look at green and beautiful pictures rather than outside the windows were you only see a few meters out from the house. The cute mare in the pic here above is Glymra from Litla-Garði and she turns 4 next spring. She will be in the program with Hulda Lilý. We are really excited to see how she turnes out but she´s sired by Glym frá Árgerði and Sónötu frá Litla-Hóli.
When the weather is like this it´s best to see a couple more warm pics.

This one is also sired by Glymur frá Árgerði and she is called Myrra from Litla-Garði. Her mother is Vænting from Ási 1
She will also turn 4 yo next spring. We are also really excited about this one, really beautiful and big with good neck. The movements are nothing to complane about either.
Litla-Jörp from Árgerði here 4 years old
Litla-Jörp is the first offspring of the great Snældu frá Árgerði junior and Goða from Þóroddsstöðum. She was trained when she was 4 yo and was really promising but she got injured with "kvíslbandabólgu", don´t know the english word but she had to have at least one year break from riding and got to have one foal instead. Now it´s second try but she´ll turn 6 years old next spring.

A whole new year
Happy new year and thanks for the one that just passed our dear readers.The holidays were wonderful like usual and of course way to much eaten. Now the serious life takes over and the stables are totally full again of training horses here in Litla-Garði. Hulda Lilý Sigurðardóttir will be with us this winter as apart of her study in Hólar.

But Magni has a field at a farm near Melgerðismelar named Melgerði for rent and there are many mares with foals.

More Salehorses - Now two very promising mares!
Now Christmas is coming and everything is white and beautiful. Our competition horses and the better mares are coming to the stall from their autumn vacation, all fat and like a big teddybear. It´s always so nice, they are so calm and peaceful and happy :) And the first ride after shoeing is always so fun.

Stígur is Litla-Garði is beautiful and exciting male foal born 2011. He´s sired by the great Tristan from Árgerði, Tristan´s mother was amazing in her time, got 8.82 for riding abilities and the only horse to get 10.0 for temprament when spirit and temprament where judged seperately.
Two mares from the mother Tvístjarna have been judged, first one is Örk from Litla-Garði sired by Svip from Uppsölum. She was judged at the age 4 years old and got fine numbers, 7.91 for conformation and 8.0 for tolt, spirit, form under rider, 8.5 for gallop and 6.5 for trot. Örk was sold young and the owner is Fákshólar and we found there pictures of her ther:
Tvístjarna herself was never judged but is a good breeding mare. She was herself very powerful, sensitive in a good way and very fun to ride. Here are pics of the other daughter, Tíbrá from Litla-Garði. Her father is Kiljan frá Árgerði . Tíbrá got her judgement at the age 5 and got 8.0 for tolt, pace and form under rider and 8.5 for spirit. 7.91 for riding ability and 7.82 total.

Hremmsa´s father is Kjarni from Árgerði and daughter of Feykir from Hafsteinsstaðir, Komma from Árgerði. Hremmsa is five gaited, powerful and very nice to ride. Very good tolt is her speciality. She got injured on a leg in training and never fully recovered and we know she has a lot more in riding abilities than the marks say.
Hrókur is very nice builded, moves with big and high movements. We believe Hremmsa and Tristan blend well together but Hremmsa is pretty long on body and with great neck and shoulders 9.0 and Tristan is very high on shoulders 1.48 cm and gives long legs and slim body very much to his offsprings.

His father is the amazing Gangster from Árgerði. Better horse is though to find to take for a ride, great speed and takt in every gait and temrature and willing extra wonderful, always asking how fast or how slow do you wanna go.
The mother, Sunna from Árgerði is the only mare in our breedingmare group sired by the great Brynjar from Árgerði, Kolfinns from Kjarnholtum and Snælda´s son. Three of Sunna´s daughters are in training age, 2006-2008. All sired by diffirent horses but all easy, fun and moves good.
This is truely a interesting foal.

She had to get a long vacation and we will try to train her again this winter. When she was in training she was definitely the most promising of all the young horses here. Winter Wonderland
Well well, then it´s almost December and King Winter decided to stop being soft on us and remind us where we live, in ICEland but last weeks have been like summer, no snow and warm autumnwind has been and tempo around 5-10°c. But last week it got a little colder and a little colder and yesterday it started to snow and today almost every mountain road in the north is closed because of snow and bad weather. Cars trapped here and there on those roads waiting for rescue. Then it´s good to use the time when weather is bad for riding to upgrade this page well and make it better. We are always adding to the groop Ræktunarhryssur (Breeding mares). It´s mostly in icelandic but it´s easy to look through and see the offsprings and scores on the mares. They go all the way back to 1970 and till the day today. Honorary price mares and so on.
Today i added three old mares, they are: Nótt frá Árgerði, Irpa frá Árgerði og Hekla frá Árgerði.
The training station is in full speed all year long and we have many interesting and exciting young hroses now. It will be fun to pick out those who will be inside this winter but they almost all could.
I´m always looking for old photos to put in here but they are ofter an absolute preasure to own. Here is young Hafþór Magni around 1995 riding two wonderful mares:

The first one is Mollý from Árgerði b´89 and her father is Ófeigur from Hvanneyri and mother Fjólu from Árgerði (then halfsister of Elva from Árgerði). This was a great ridinghorse with excellent temrature. Is now located in Germany.
The second one is Toppa from Kristsnesi b´91 but she was here for training for some time and then also borrowed as a ridinghorse for some time more. Everyone could ride her, good gaites and suitable for little competition. She had 7.81 in total score and is now a breedingmare by her owners in Kristnesi and her best offspring is Hespa from Kristnesi but Biggi showed her this summer to riding ability score 8.14 and 9.0 for pace. Toppa´s father was out Snældu-Blesi from Árgerði :)
